FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Journex
Eighteen questions with the answers we can back up today. Where something is not decided yet, that is stated just as plainly — a figure that changes later would be worth nothing.
For you
What Journex is, what you need for it, and what happens when something does not work out.
What is Journex?
An app for people who want to start something. It begins with a conversation that turns into your Founder DNA: your archetype, your strengths across twelve axes, your potential and a starting rank. After that you take the journey "Your first project" — ten steps into the real world, each one with proof. Once a month a mission comes on top, which you play in a squad.
Do I need to have an idea already?
No. You need something that annoys you. Step 1 is exactly that: write down five things that genuinely got on your nerves lately and pick one of them. If nothing comes to mind, the app suggests three projects that fit your profile.
Is this a personality test?
No. No scales, no multiple choice, no four-letter label and no comparison against norms. What comes out is not a label but three chapters about you: the red thread, the blind spot, and the shadow most likely to slow you down — with an antidote.
How does the conversation work?
The app starts without registration. An AI asks you questions and you answer in your own words, in full sentences — no ticking boxes, no scales. Then comes the reveal, and only after that do you create an account: email, password, year of birth, optionally a club.
How long does the journey take?
Ten steps, about four weeks. A single step takes between 30 minutes and two hours. You set the pace: the next step opens as soon as your proof is in.
What is a squad?
Up to four people working on a mission together. Squads are put together by archetype, so you complement each other instead of doubling up. There are three ways in: through your own club, through your own crew of four or more, or through open matching. Without a club you are still in.
What is the rank good for?
It shows you your own movement, nothing else. There are seven levels: Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond → Elite → Visionary. You collect XP when you finish a journey step and when your squad delivers in a mission. You get a starting rank that moves with every step. Your rank is private — it never shows up in any social space.
What happens if I do not manage a step?
Nothing. The next step waits until your proof is there — no clock runs against you, and the four weeks are an estimate, not a countdown. If something is missing from your proof, the AI coach asks one follow-up question instead of failing you. Step 9 is called "What did not work" — failing is part of the task, not the opposite of it.
Do I need money for this?
Not for the ten steps. They are built so that you get through without a budget and without prior knowledge; step 8 is called "The first euro", and that is about someone paying you, not the other way around. As for the app itself: in its current state there are no ads and no in-app purchases. What Journex will cost later is deliberately not stated here — it is not decided yet, and as soon as it is, it will stand here and in the terms.
Data and safety
Where your data sits, who can see you, and what the AI does with your answers.
Where is my data stored?
Account, profile and progress data sit with Supabase on servers in the EU (region eu-central-1), protected by row level security. For the analysis, conversation and proof content is transmitted to Anthropic, the provider of the AI model in use — so "all data stays in the EU" would be wrong. What is transmitted, and on what basis, is set out in the privacy policy. Your data is not sold.
Who sees my name?
Nobody has to. In every social space your handle counts, not your real name. A display name is optional and visible only to your friends. In the league you are visible only if you switch it on — the default is invisible. There are no public profiles.
Can a stranger message me?
No. Chat exists only in the basecamp of your own squad. There are no direct messages to strangers, no followers and no open feeds; friendships only start through a handle you have to know beforehand. Report and block work everywhere — a report blocks immediately, and three independent reports hide a piece of content automatically.
Can I delete or export my data?
Both, and both directly in the app. The export covers your profile, conversation history and submitted proof (Art. 15 and 20 GDPR). Deleting your account is permanent and needs neither an email to us nor a justification.
What exactly does the AI do?
It runs the conversation at the start, turns it into your profile, writes the guide for each step tailored to your project, and reads your proof — with one follow-up question where needed. The analysis is done by an AI model (Claude by Anthropic). It makes no decisions about people: nobody is graded or filtered out because of it.
For parents, schools and clubs
The questions adults ask us — answered briefly. The long version is on the safety page.
From what age?
From 16. Registration asks for the year of birth; younger accounts are not provided for. Registration only happens after the conversation, together with consent to the privacy policy and the terms.
Is this a competition?
Only between teams, never between individuals. The journey is not a competition, and the rank of each person is private. In missions, squad competes against squad and club against club; rating is anonymous and done by the community, not by a jury. What you win is status — a badge, a spot in the showcase, XP — not money.
Can this be used in class?
Yes. Clubs, schools, student companies and youth groups can set themselves up as a club; from a minimum number of members the club area unlocks, and after that you play as a club in the monthly missions. What it takes is one contact person, a join link you pass on, and one reminder a month. Anyone without a club can still take part in every mission.
